Build It And They Will Come…

By Traci On July 5, 2010 Under Blog Development

Well, not exactly.

There’s a little bit more to blogging than that. A lot more if you want your blog to be successful.

The first step to building a successful blog is the planning. It’s possible to build something first and figure out the details later, but it’ll end up costing you more in the long run, in time and money. It’s better to plan first, then build. You don’t need something as detailed as a business plan or as elaborate as architectural drawings, but you do need to answer a few basic questions and work out a few details before you get started.

Here are some of the questions you need to ask yourself before you get started:

  • What is the purpose of my blog?
  • What is my blog topic?
  • Do I plan on having my own domain name?
  • How much technical knowledge do I have or am I willing to learn?
  • What is my monthly budget in time and money?

The answers to each of these key questions will help determine how you go about building your blog. Take some time and think about your answers. Write them down and, when you’re done, revisit BootstrapBlogging.com and learn how your answers help determine your blog setup.
